Rotary Funding Adds Music Therapy to ChildServe Offerings

Music therapy sessionA $2,000 grant from the Rotary Club of Des Moines AM Foundation will help bring the power of music therapy to children with special healthcare needs.

Children who receive care at ChildServe’s Woodland Center will now have an additional tool to enhance social and motor skills through the “Music Speaks” program. More than 40 children are expected to participate with the goal to increase communication, social stability, sensory regulation, socialization and more.

The program is expected to enhance current physical, occupational, speech-language, medical day health, nursing, early intervention and skill development programs in place at the Woodland Center.
